DocumentationEleo EdgePairing Your Device

Pairing Your Device

Connect your Eleo Edge desktop app to your store using a one-time pairing code.

After installing Eleo Edge on your computer, you need to pair it with your Eleo store. Pairing establishes a secure link between the Edge app and your store account. Once paired, the device can receive print jobs, sync data, and communicate with the Eleo platform.

Pairing authorizes the device — it enrolls this terminal as a sanctioned machine for your store. That's different from a cashier signing in, which identifies the person at a till in Checkout mode. Both modes need the device to be paired; only Checkout also asks staff to sign in afterwards. See Choosing a Mode for the difference.

How to pair a device

Pairing uses a 6-character code generated from the Eleo Suite dashboard. Each code is single-use and expires after 10 minutes. You enter it in the Edge desktop app to complete the connection.

You need a Manager or Admin role

Generating a pairing code requires the Manager or Admin role on the store, and your plan must include Eleo Edge. If you don't see the Pair New Device button, ask a store admin to pair the terminal, or check that Eleo Edge is part of your subscription.

  1. 1

    Open the Edge Devices page

In the Eleo Suite dashboard, navigate to Edge Devices from the sidebar (or go to /edge). This page shows all devices currently paired to your store.

  2. 2

    Generate a pairing code

Click the Pair New Device button in the top-right corner. A dialog will appear displaying a 6-character pairing code. A countdown timer shows the 10 minutes you have to use it — if it runs out, click Generate New Code.

  3. 3

Open Edge and choose a mode

On the computer where Eleo Edge is installed, open the Edge app (or click the Edge icon in your system tray). On the first screen, choose Checkout or Tools — both lead to the pairing screen if the device isn't paired yet.

  4. 4

    Enter the code in Edge

On the pairing screen, enter the 6-character code displayed in your browser and confirm. Codes are not case-sensitive.

  5. 5

    Confirm the connection

Once the code is accepted, the device will appear in your Edge Devices list with an “Online” status. The pairing dialog in your browser can be closed. Edge is now linked to your store and ready to handle print jobs.

Each pairing code can only be used once. If the code expires before you enter it, click Generate New Code in the dialog to get a fresh one.

Pairing multiple devices

You can pair more than one Edge device to a single store. This is useful when you have multiple workstations (e.g. a front counter and a kitchen) each with their own computer and printer. Each device gets its own pairing code and appears separately in the device list.

Name your devices

After pairing, give each device a descriptive name (e.g. “Counter PC” or “Kitchen Station”) from the device detail page. This makes it easier to identify devices when managing your setup.

What happens after pairing

When a device is paired, the following occurs automatically:

  • Edge connects to the Eleo platform via WebSocket for real-time communication.
  • Edge discovers printers configured on the host computer and makes them available for print job routing.
  • The Eleo Suite dashboard detects Edge running locally and shows a green status indicator with the number of available printers and stations.
  • The device begins syncing essential data for offline operation.
One store per device

Each Edge installation can only be paired to one store at a time. If you need to move a device to a different store, revoke it from the current store first, then pair it to the new one.

Troubleshooting

  • “That code didn't work” — the code was mistyped, already used, or older than 10 minutes. Generate a fresh one in Suite and enter it promptly. Codes are single-use.
  • “This device is already paired” — the terminal is paired to a store already. Revoke it from Edge Devices (or unpair it in the Edge app) before pairing again.
  • No “Pair New Device” button — your role is below Manager, or your plan doesn't include Eleo Edge. Ask an admin, or review your subscription.
  • “Couldn't reach Eleo” — the terminal has no internet connection. Check the network and try again.
