Product Variants

Create variant combinations from product options like size, colour, and material.

Variants represent the different purchasable versions of a single product. A t-shirt, for example, might come in three sizes and two colours, giving you six variants in total. In Eleo, variants are generated automatically when you apply option groups to a product. Each variant can carry its own price, SKU, barcode, and stock level.

How variants work

Variants are built from option groups (e.g. “Size”) and their option values (e.g. “Small”, “Medium”, “Large”). When you assign one or more option groups to a product, Eleo calculates every possible combination and creates a variant for each. If you later add a new value to an option group, new variants are generated for the affected products automatically.

Creating variants step-by-step

  1. 1

    Create option groups

Before you can add variants, you need at least one option group. Go to Catalog → Product Options → Options and create a group — for example, “Size” with values “S”, “M”, and “L”. You can create as many groups as you need (e.g. “Colour”, “Material”).

  2. 2

    Apply options to a product

Open the product you want to add variants to (or create a new one). In the Options section of the product form, select the option groups that apply. For instance, choose both “Size” and “Colour” for a t-shirt.

  3. 3

    Review auto-generated variants

As soon as you save, Eleo generates a variant for every combination. A product with 3 sizes and 2 colours will produce 6 variants. You can see them listed in the Variants tab on the product detail page.

  4. 4

    Set per-variant pricing and stock

Click into any variant to override the default selling price or cost price. You can also set a unique SKU and barcode for each variant. Stock levels are tracked independently per variant, so you always know exactly how many “Size M / Red” items you have on hand.

Bulk editing

If you have many variants, use the inline editing grid to update prices and stock levels for all variants at once without opening each one individually.
