Pricing
Set selling prices, track cost prices, and use the built-in margin calculator.
Getting your pricing right is essential for profitability. Eleo gives you the tools to set customer-facing selling prices, record your cost prices for margin analysis, and quickly calculate markups with the built-in price calculator. If you are on a Starter plan or above, you also get access to price history so you can track how your prices have changed over time.
Setting the selling price
The selling price is the amount your customers pay for a product. You set this in the Pricing section of the product form. For products with variants, each variant can have its own selling price — for example, a larger size might cost more than a smaller one. The selling price is displayed on your storefront, POS, and invoices.
Setting the cost price
The cost price (also known as the landed cost) represents what you paid to acquire or produce the item. Recording the cost price allows Eleo to calculate your profit margin automatically. The cost price is an internal figure — it is never shown to customers.
The cost price is only visible to team members who have the view_sensitive_product_data permission. If you do not see the cost price field on a product, ask your store admin to grant you access.
Understanding margin calculation
When both a selling price and cost price are set, Eleo displays the profit margin as a percentage next to the pricing fields. The formula is:
Margin (%) = ((Selling Price - Cost Price) / Selling Price) × 100
For example, a product with a selling price of 5,000 and a cost price of 3,000 has a margin of 40%. This calculation updates in real time as you edit either price, giving you immediate feedback on your profitability.
Using the price calculator
The price calculator is a handy tool available on the product form that lets you work backwards from a target margin to determine the correct selling price, or from a selling price to see what margin you would achieve. Enter any two of the three values (cost price, selling price, or margin percentage) and the calculator fills in the third automatically.
Price history Starter
On Starter plans and above, Eleo keeps a log of every price change for each product. You can view the price history on the product detail page under the Price History tab. Each entry shows the old price, new price, date of change, and the team member who made the update. This is useful for understanding how your pricing strategy has evolved and for resolving any pricing disputes.
Need to update prices for many products at once? On Growth plans and above, you can use the bulk operations feature to apply percentage increases or decreases to multiple products simultaneously.
