Accounting

Manage your chart of accounts, journal entries, and bookkeeping workflows in Eleo Suite.

The Accounting module provides the foundational bookkeeping layer for your financial data. It includes a chart of accounts, automatic transaction recording, and reconciliation tools to ensure your books stay accurate and up to date.

Chart of Accounts

The Chart of Accounts is the backbone of your financial records. It organises all financial activity into a structured list of accounts, each representing a category of income, expense, asset, or liability.

Eleo provides a set of default accounts out of the box that cover the most common business needs:

  • Revenue accounts — Sales revenue, discounts given, refunds issued.
  • Cost of Goods Sold — Direct costs tied to producing or purchasing the products you sell.
  • Expense accounts — Operating expenses broken down by classification (facilities, technology, admin, payroll).
  • Asset accounts — Cash, bank balances, inventory, and equipment.
  • Liability accounts — Amounts owed to suppliers, loans, and other obligations.

You can view the full chart of accounts from Finance → Accounting → Accounts. Each account shows its type, current balance, and the number of transactions recorded against it.

The Chart of Accounts organises your financial activity into revenue, expense, asset, and liability accounts.

Transactions

Transactions are the individual records of money moving in or out of your business. Every sale, expense, supplier payment, and payroll entry creates one or more transactions against the relevant accounts.

Navigate to Finance → Accounting → Overview to view and filter your transaction history. You can filter by:

  • Date range
  • Account
  • Transaction type (debit or credit)
  • Amount range
  • Reference or description keyword

Eleo automatically creates transactions for sales, stock purchases, and payroll — you rarely need to enter manual transactions. The system handles double-entry bookkeeping behind the scenes so your accounts always balance.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is the process of matching your recorded transactions against your bank statements to ensure everything lines up. This helps identify discrepancies such as missing transactions, duplicates, or incorrect amounts.

To reconcile, compare your bank statement entries with the transactions in Eleo for the same period. Mark matching entries as reconciled. Any unmatched entries may indicate transactions that need to be recorded or investigated.
