Restock Configuration
Set up automatic restock alerts and reorder policies for your products based on sales velocity or manual thresholds.
Restock Configuration lets you define when Eleo should alert you to replenish a product — whether you produce it in-house or purchase it from a supplier. Each product can have its own restock policy with timing parameters, preferred recipes, and alert preferences.
A juice bar that makes its own zobo but buys bottled water from a distributor can set up restock configs for both: the zobo triggers a work order when stock runs low, while the bottled water triggers a purchase order.
Restock methods
Each product can use one of two methods to determine when restocking is needed:
- Auto (Sales Velocity) — Eleo calculates your average daily sales over a configurable window (default 30 days) and dynamically sets the reorder point using the formula:
Reorder Point = Daily Sales Velocity × (Lead Time + Safety Stock)
This method adapts automatically as your sales patterns change. If you start selling more, the reorder point rises to match. - Manual Reorder Point — You set a fixed stock threshold. When the product’s available stock drops to or below this number, an alert is triggered. Use this for products with unpredictable or seasonal demand where historical sales data may not be representative.
Start with Auto (Sales Velocity) for most products — it adjusts itself as demand changes. Switch to Manual only if you have a product with highly irregular sales patterns (e.g. a seasonal item) or if you know exactly how much stock you want to keep on hand.
Timing parameters
These parameters control how far in advance Eleo alerts you and how much buffer stock to maintain:
- Lead Time (days) — How many days it takes to produce or receive this product after you place the order. For in-house production, this is your production time. For sourced products, this is your supplier’s delivery time.
- Safety Stock (days) — Extra days of stock to keep as a buffer against unexpected demand spikes or delivery delays. If your supplier sometimes delivers a day late, set this to at least 1.
- Velocity Window (days) — The number of past days Eleo uses to calculate your average daily sales. A 30-day window smooths out weekly fluctuations; a 7-day window reacts faster to recent trends.
Setting up a restock config
- 1
Navigate to Restock Configuration
Go to Production → Planning & Schedule → Restock Configuration (or from the Demand Planning dashboard, click Restock Settings).
- 2
Add a new config
Click Add Config. Select the product you want to configure and choose your restock method.
- 3
Set timing parameters
Enter your lead time, safety stock days, and velocity window. These determine how early you are alerted and how much buffer to maintain.
- 4
Set a preferred recipe (optional)
For products you produce in-house, link a preferred recipe. This enables one-click work order creation directly from restock alerts. Leave this empty for products you purchase from suppliers.
- 5
Configure alerts
Toggle alerts on or off and set the cooldown period (minimum hours between repeat alerts for the same product). The default is 24 hours.
Understanding alerts
When a product’s available stock drops to or below its reorder point, Eleo generates a restock alert with an urgency level:
- Critical — You will run out of stock before production or delivery can be completed (days of stock remaining ≤ lead time). Act immediately.
- Warning — Stock is getting tight. You have between one and two lead times worth of stock remaining. Place your order or start production soon.
- Info — Stock has crossed the reorder point but you still have comfortable runway. This is a heads-up to plan ahead.
Acting on alerts
From the Demand Planning dashboard, each alert includes a suggested quantity and a one-click action:
- Produced products — Click Create WO to generate a work order pre-populated with the preferred recipe and suggested quantity.
- Sourced products — Click Create PO to generate a draft purchase order with the product and suggested quantity pre-filled.
If no preferred recipe is set for a produced product, the Create WO button will prompt you to configure one first. You can still create work orders manually from the Work Orders page.
